Fire your imagination and spark your creativity with our annual Poetry Competition in partnership with Christian Aid, taking adults and children alike on a voyage of discovery through the world of chocolate, cocoa farmers Fairtrade and poetry.
The competition has three categories:
7-11 year olds
12-17 year olds
18 years and over.
Write a poem about chocolate for your chance to WIN!
For English language poems, a film of your poem being read by this year's guest judge, Inua Ellams, an award winning poet, playwright & founder of the Midnight Run.
For Welsh language poems, a film of your poem being read by this year's guest judge, Casia Wiliam, Children’s Poet Laureate for Wales.

#1. GET CREATIVE AND WRITE YOUR POEM
This year's theme is “How can chocolate change the world?”
You could explore:
The global impact of the chocolate you buy.
Chocolate companies changing the world for the better.
The giving of chocolate. How does this make a difference?
The history of how chocolate changed the world.
TOP TIPS FOR WINNING POETRY ENTRIES:
Make sure your poem focuses on the theme: “How can chocolate change the world?”
Fair trade is about empowering farmers so try to think beyond common stereotypes of developing countries
Artwork/design is not judged; however please make sure it is legible so the judges can read your poem!

#2. Submit your poem by the closing date

The deadline for poems in English is 14th June 2019.

#3. Await the results
The winning poems in English will chosen by guest judge Inua Ellams and will be announced in July.
The winning poems in Welsh will chosen by guest judge Casia Wiliam and will be announced in May.
