These are perfect as an after dinner treat or an afternoon pick-me-up with a coffee. The beer taste is subtle and adds a different flavour to a traditional truffle recipe.
Method
Chop the chocolate into small pieces and place in a bowl over simmering water. Stir until all of the chocolate has melted.
In another saucepan, add the sugar and ale. Over a low heat stir until the sugar has completely dissolved.
Add the ale to the chocolate and use a stick blender to make a smooth glossy mixture.
Pour into a shallow baking tray and chill in the fridge for at least 30 minutes.
Once the chocolate has cooled, it should be a scoop-able consistency. Use a small spoon to gather a grape sized amount of chocolate and form into a ball with your fingertips.
Drop into the cocoa powder and coat completely.
