Divine Chocolate Wins Top Social Enterprise Award

Divine Logo

Many of the UK's top social enterprises gathered for the Awards, which once again was brilliantly hosted by Social Enterprise UK at LSO St Lukes in Old Street and entirely run by social enterprises. Sue Perkins was our very funny and congenial MC (who admits a personal soft spot for Divine), and the diversity and innovation that characterises the social enterprise sector was in the spotlight – businesses and organisations that have found smart and commercial solutions to social challenges. Awards were made in eleven categories, with winners including Belu Water (Consumer-Facing Social Enterprise), Ethex & PEC Renewables (Investment Deal of the Year) and Director of the London Early Learning Foundation June O’Sullivan (Social Enterprise Women’s Champion).

Divine’s Managing Director Sophi Tranchell, who accepted the award from Duncan Sloan of sponsor RBS and Sue Perkins, said: “Over Divine Chocolate’s 16 years there are young people that have grown up with us and believing that business can be done differently. All the winners and runners- up demonstrate that the desire for businesses powered by their principles is growing, and the creativity to make them work is increasingly evident. Let’s all go forth and make social enterprise the business model that defines the 21st century.”

Divine's Chair Jamie Hartzell joined us up on the stage, having already won an award with his social investment business Ethex.
